Autumn in Austin is simply delicious! The weather is beautiful, and the night sky is on fire. Austin is known for its strong connection with music, museums, and culture which makes it an incredible place to explore. As the days get shorter and a little bit cooler, you may be tempted to stay in and snuggle up with a nice cup of hot chocolate. Before you call it a night, we thought you might want to know about some of the upcoming events going on in and around Austin in November.
- Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center Presents the Field of Light. Some art installations inspire the viewer for a lifetime, and this may be one of those installations. The Field of Light art installations is set to dazzle with thousands of solar-powered lights illuminating the natural beauty of Austin. Bruce Munro, the creator of the Field of Light installation, said this about the installation: “Austin is such a unique destination that embodies many of the core values of this installation. My hope is that the Field of Light installation will inspire visitors to contemplate a kinder and more connected world.” Certainly an important message for our time. Check out this installation before it leaves on December 31!
- Wurst Fest. Some think German food is the best; others think it’s the wurst! (See what we did there?) However you feel about German food, it might be time to head on over to the Wurst Fest for some entertainment, food, and fun. The Wurst Fest celebrates German tradition with music, dance, food, and drink. If you missed an Oktoberfest in October, now is the time to join the celebration! This party is going to last for 10 whole days from November 4 through 13, so get ready for a good time!
- Big Medium Presents the Austin Studio Tour. If you enjoy fine art galleries, then you might consider the Austin Studio Tour put on by the Big Medium non-profit group weekends from November 5 through 20. This non-profit features over 520 artists with a variety of styles. The mission of the Big Medium is to support “…artists through equitable and inclusive platforms to explore their practice and advance their careers.” So if you are looking to support local art and culture, this would be the place for you.
- Austin Fashion Week. Looking to dive into the newest fashion trends? Or perhaps you are looking to make a bold first impression. Either way, the return of the Austin Fashion Week is just around the corner on the weekend of November 11-13. Tickets start at $50/person and allow the attendees to enjoy two runway shows on the day of their ticket.
- Austin Field Guide Festival.It always seems like chefs get to have all access to the finest local produce available. The Austin Field Guide Festival brings together farmers, foragers, hunters, gatherers, ranchers, and chefs who love food as much as you do! Come join the “inner circle” of fine dining on November 12 to get pro tips and ingredients!
- Blue Genie Art Bazaar.If you had three wishes, what would you choose? Maybe one of those wishes has already been granted! At the Blue Genie Art Bazaar, local artists bring out their best work for you to come and peruse. From specialty chocolate bars to teas, stickers, and gag gifts, there is something here for everybody! The bazaar runs from November 18 through December 24, perfect for finding great holiday gifts.
- ThunderClouds Subs Turkey Trot.Looking for a worthwhile way to give back on Thanksgiving Day? Thundercloud Subs is hosting the 32nd annual Turkey Trot to raise money for people experiencing homelessness. This long-standing Austin tradition has helped to raise over $4.4 million dollars since its conception. The Turkey Trot is an excellent way to prepare your body for a tasty Thanksgiving meal while helping others.
